REVELLERS enjoying a 30th birthday party at a Kent sports club were interrupted when a car was set alight outside.

Dozens of people in the clubhouse at Sheppey Rugby Club in Lower Road, Minster, rushed out to the car park at about 11pm on Saturday.

A silver car was ablaze in the gateway of the club. All its doors were open, but no driver or passengers were seen in the area.

A fire crew from Eastchurch was called along with police, who directed traffic away from the scene while the fire was dealt with.

The car wreckage was removed by Sunday afternoon.
