A biker who sped at up to 127mph on the motorway has been banned from the road for six months.
Gary Foxton was seen driving his Kawasaki motorcycle at high speeds on the Rochester stretch of the M2 by police.
The 50-year-old admitted speeding in what he described as a “moment of madness” at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The court heard maintenance manager Foxton was spottted on the London-bound carriageway between Junction 2 for Rochester and Junction 1 for Grain just before 3.30pm on Monday, May 30.
David Skelton, prosecuting, said Foxton was clocked doing between 121mph and 127mph, but mainly a constant speed of 122mph.
Foxton told magistrates: “I know I’m going to get disqualified. When I get my licence back, it won’t happen again.”
He has been keeping his friends updated about the speeding charge on the social networking site Facebook.
On July 13, he said: “Thought my speeding charge had gone away, but oh no just got handed a summons from a WPC knocking on my door, got about five weeks left on bike. Unless I can make the magistrate feel sorry for me.”
The court heard Foxton has six penalty points on his driving licence. He was convicted of driving without due care and attention in July 2009.
Magistrates also heard he has pleaded guilty to driving at 41mph in a 30mph zone and was due to appear at court yesterday for that offence.
Magistrate David Brake said: “It has taken my colleagues and I some time to come to terms with your excess speeding. Quite frankly we were shocked and then absolutely appalled.”
Foxton, of Mayfield Road, Gravesend, was disqualified from driving for six months and given a £400 fine. He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
After the case, Foxton posted on his Facebook page: “Six months and 500 quid, let’s see what Thursday’s 41 in 30 can bring me.”
