CCTV may help catch alleyway thugs

A TEENAGED boy has been robbed in an alleyway leading from Ramsgate Railway Station to Newington Road. The 16-year-old, who lives in Broadstairs, was walking from the station with a 16-year-old girl from Ramsgate on Sunday at 10am when they were followed by two men.

Police say that the victim was grabbed from behind around the head and threatened. The girl was not attacked. Once in the alley, the boy and girl's bags were searched through. A mobile telephone, a minidisk player, band cards and personal belongings were taken from the boy’s bag.

One of the attackers is about 6ft tall with a moustache. He wore a dark baseball cap, a dark blue hooded top and dark trousers. His accomplice has dark brown hair and wore light coloured clothes. He carried a drawstring bag.

Police are checking CCTV camera footage from the station, and ask anyone who saw the men in the station on Sunday to telephome them on 01843 231055.
