Celebrities will be among 75 people to carry the Olympic Torch through Thanet later this month – and you could be helping us track their progress.

Former Olympic swimmer Karen Pickering and artist Tracey Emin will take the flame through Margate, while retired javelin thrower Steve Backley and British tennis ace Elena Baltacha will join the relay in Ramsgate and St Peter's respectively.

KentOnline will be tracking their progress – and that of dozens of local heroes – with a unique, interactive map of the county, which will be constantly updated as the torch passes through Thanet on Thursday, July 19.

We're looking for to be part of this historic event by joining our team of four torch reporters.

You'll help the KM Group's multimedia reporters and photographers relay the excitement of the day by sending us your pictures, videos and audio clips and tweeting short updates.

We'll then add as many of your memories as possible to our map, which will be live for all four days of the Olympic flame's journey through Kent.

To register your interest in becoming a torch reporter in Thanet or on any stage of the route, email Martin Jefferies at mjefferies@thekmgroup.co.uk and let us know where you'll be watching the torch from and what you'll be doing as it passes by.

We'll tell you about more opportunities to contribute to our coverage nearer the time.

The interactive map forms part of KentOnline's extensive coverage of the build up to the Olympic Games, which includes interviews with our Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls.
