GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally says he may reconsider his future at the club if his stadium plans do not come to fruition.

Mr Scally is desperate to move the club out of Priestfield, which has been the Gills’ home since 1893, so that he can turn around the debts that have been crippling the League 1 side.

The club was saved from closure in June 1995 when Mr Scally completed the takeover from Tony Smith.

The deal was completed a minute ahead of the deadline set by the Football League for the club to come out of receivership.

But with massive overheads threatening Gillingham’s future again, Mr Scally feels a move is the only answer and he isn’t prepared to wait forever.

Mr Scally said: "The future of this football club is not at this stadium and everyone accepts that is a fundamental point.

"If I can’t achieve a new stadium, I must consider my own personal future, because there’s not much more to be achieved here, other than what can be achieved in a small stadium."
