VOTE today! That is the urgent plea from supporters of the Bearsted Woodland Trust.

The charity, which manages 16 acres of community woodland at Bearsted, near Maidstone, has the chance to win an £80,000 People’s Millions Lottery Grant today if it secures more votes than a rival environmental project.

The trust wants to use the money to create paths suitable for the disabled and pushchair-users through the woodland, which is enitirely supported by private donations and voluntary work.

Bob Bounds, Kent Messenger senior editor West Kent, has urged his readers to support the trust, saying: “With the threat of the Kent International Gateway scheme hanging over them, the people of Bearsted deserve some good news. I urge all our readers to vote for the trust.”

Votes must be made before midnight tonight by calling 08702 433602. Calls cost the standard rate, normally less than 10p and up to 10 votes may be registered from any one phone line.

For further information on the project, visit www.bearstedwoodlandtrust.org. You can view the trust’s submission for the grant on Meridian TV news tonight at 6pm.
