Shopping centre bosses were left "angry" after EastEnders star Charlie Brooks pulled the plug on a lights switch-on appearance... to appear on I'm a Celebrity.

Chatham Dockside PR bosses had booked the soap superstar to switch on their lights.

But they've since heard she will be heading for the jungle in less than a week’s time - five days before she was signed up to perform the honours at the shopping centre.

Charlie, 31, who plays the scheming Janine in the BBC1 soap, was due to flick the button at 4pm on Saturday November 17.

She is currently on a six-month break from EastEnders.

Charlie will go head to head on I'm a Celebrity... Get me Out of Here with former Corrie babe Helen Flanagan, who has quit as Rosie Webster.
