Charlie Lee believes he is fully prepared to pull on the Gillingham shirt again weeks after his abortive return to action.
Lee’s season has been badly disrupted by suspensions and injury, much like the squad as a whole but he’s hoping to now play a big part in the season finale.
A recent ankle injury left the midfielder sidelined for just over two weeks in mid-March but on his return, at Burton, he hobbled off just seven minutes after coming on as a substitute.
It was a blow for the 25-year-old who, after 45 minutes of action in a practice game on Monday, is primed to go again.
Lee said: "I feel good and the physios had a dig at me last time as I might have come back a bit too early and I got injured again.
"There wasn’t much I could have done really, I was unlucky. I came on and someone smashed my ankle. This time there was no problem and the physios made sure there was no way I was coming back too early.
"I have had a good four or five days of non-stop running. I didn’t enjoy that but it has put me in good stead and hopefully I can come back on Saturday now."
