Charlie Lee believes he has joined a club that are going places.
The midfielder became Gillingham’s seventh summer signing after agreeing a three-year deal on Monday.
Last season he helped guide Peterborough to promotion in League 1 and he now wants to repeat that feat at Priestfield in League 2.
Lee, 24, said: "I picked the club because I thought it was one that could go for it. They have got big plans for the future and I want to get promoted with Gillingham."
He spent the last four seasons with Peterborough – after joining them from Tottenham in 2007 – where he tasted three promotions and one relegation.
Stepping down to League 2 is not something that Lee is concerned about – having done the same before.
He said: "I chose to join Peterborough in League 2 from Tottenham because they had a chairman who was willing to put money in and a manager who wanted to go for it and they had good players.
"A lot of people thought that might have been the wrong decision then but we got back-to-back promotions.
"I am not scared to go down to League 2. It is still a great standard of football and I have picked the team that I think can go for it. I want to be part of a successful team and feel that Gillingham can be a successful team."
