Fast bowler Charlie Shreck hopes to make a real impression when leading the Kent attack this summer.
The 33-year-old former Nottinghamshire seamer arrived on loan with the county 12 months ago and made his debut against Essex at Chelmsford, only to be called back the following week due to an injury crisis at Trent Bridge.
The talk was that Kent had earmarked him as a possible new signing ahead of this summer and Shreck agreed the move with former director of cricket Paul Farbrace, before the latter left St Lawrence at the end of last season.
Shreck said: "I had a couple of meetings with him and he sold the club to me. I got on well with him, he then left but coming to Kent was the opportunity I wanted.
"I am not a target-setter but I want to make an impact on the side and give Keysy the control he is looking for to allow us to boss games."
Shreck is also excited about the youngsters on the staff, including Adam Ball and Matt Coles, the latter having impressed on the trip to Antigua.
He said: "Matt has a lot of raw talent, which is unrefined at the moment but he looks fit and strong and was a cut above everybody else in Antigua."
A late arrival on the county scene, Shreck was 25 before he gained his first professional contract at Trent Bridge, having until then enjoyed life in Cornwall playing Minor Counties cricket.
