Charlton Athletic have now gone three games without scoring after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Huddersfield at the Valley.

Joey Gudjonsson struck a sublime free-kick seven minutes from time to condemn the Addicks to their seventh home League 1 defeat of the season.

Paul Benson and Gary Doherty were denied by Ian Bennett in the opening half while Bradley Wright-Phillips (pictured) sent a free-kick over and after the break Michael Stewart and Scott Wagstaff were thwarted by Bennett.

With the clock winding down Icelandic international Gudjonsson eventually found the top-corner of John Sullivan's goal from 20-yards to extend Charlton's run to one win in 15 games.

Athletic were without skipper Christian Dailly who missed the game as part of his five-match ban for his third red card of the season at Oldham, with Jon Fortune replacing him.

The win kept Hudderfield behind second-placed Southampton on goal difference while the Addicks slipped to 13th, still not mathematically safe from relegation.
