Things are looking a bit better after our last two results, even though nothing much seems to have changed in the table.

After a vital home win against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, we earned a good point away at Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night to climb to 14th.

That’s toward the top of the group of clubs that are positioned so closely in the Championship, with just five points separating 12 teams.

But we know that we still have work to do to make sure that we are playing Championship football again next season.

Saturday’s win against Bolton was the perfect start to Easter – even if we didn’t make the perfect start.

After going 2-0 down, Johnnie Jackson’s goal soon after their second was important. That gave us motivation and the gaffer told us to keep going at half-time and believe in ourselves. In the end we got the result.

We never give up but you do ask yourself some questions when you start so badly. You try to score one goal and get back into the game and then see what happens.

I scored the second goal after Yann Kermorgant’s great free-kick rebounded from the post and I was in the right place to get the equaliser.

It was good for me because for Bolton’s first goal we weren’t well positioned defensively, so I wanted to score to make up for that.

I told Yann a week ago that if we got a penalty, he should take it because I knew that he wouldn’t miss. I trust him and he showed that by getting the winning goal.

We played well for most of the game but know that we shouldn’t need to concede two goals before reacting, which was why we were pleased with our clean sheet against Brighton.

Brighton probably had the better of the game and we were grateful to see Ben Hamer make a brilliant save in the closing seconds of the match but we worked hard and deserved to get an important point.

I’m told that it’s the first time Brighton haven’t scored at home since mid-December and it’s our second clean sheet away from home in a row, which is good to hear.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much time to think about our good Easter results because there is always another game coming up.

Leeds come to The Valley on Saturday and we know that we need another good result.

We want to make sure that we are playing Championship football again next season sooner rather than later.
