Tuesday's win against Yeovil Town was all about getting back on track.
We’d been disappointed with our last few displays, which included a couple of home defeats and the away draw against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
But things sound a lot better after the win against Yeovil and four points from our last two games means we are over a little jitter as we push for promotion.
Our defending has been so good this season. No one expected to concede four goals against Notts County recently but the midweek win was our 16th clean sheet of the season and that’s what we’re about this term.
I started on the bench against County and when assistant manager Alex Dyer told me to get warmed up after just 12 minutes, I didn’t know what was wrong until I saw Danny Haynes holding his hamstring.
I’d been looking for an opportunity to get back in the team and some minutes under my belt but it was anything but enjoyable as we went on to concede four goals before half-time.
On a personal level, I want to be playing, so it’s been good to start the last couple of games.
We have got so many good players at the club, though, so when you do play, you know that you’ve earned it.
I know that Danny Green is in the team for his crossing ability, which is great and now I’m back in the fold, I need to show that I can do that as well.
When Danny was suspended for the game at Orient in December, I thought that was my chance to cement a place back in the team – only for Ben Hamer to be sent-off after six minutes.
I didn’t think too much about it, to be honest, and was concentrating on setting up a wall but then I looked at the bench and they were pointing at me.
I was also supposed to start at Chesterfield only for the game to be called off on the morning of the game, so I’ve had some bad luck this season.
You have to take those knocks and get on with things, though, and keep smiling and work hard in training.
Back on the opening day of the season, I scored against Bournemouth and it was one of the best goals I’ve ever scored.
I remember going round to my mate’s house later that night and he said to me that it must have been good to see Dale Stephens score twice.
Then I looked on the internet and saw that my goal had been given to Dale, and I was devastated. I know deep down that I scored, though, and the fans do, too, so that’s the main thing.
