Police have warned thieves the metal-coated rods they stole from Kingsnorth Industrial Estate are covered in chemicals which could cause a deadly gas to form.
It is feared that if the 10 foot-long electrodes, used in the production of chemicals and metals, are stored together the substances could mix and create the extremely poisonous gas hydrogen cyanide.
The colourless gas, which has a bitter almond smell, is dangerous even in small quantities, and could result in a person being overcome by fumes and suffering skin burns.
The business at the industrial estate in Wotton Road, Ashford reported that four nickel cages as well as six silver and four tin electrodes were stolen during the night on Tuesday.
It is believed the items, worth £3,500, were stolen to be sold as scrap metal.
Anyone who believes they have found the electrodes, or has knowledge or their whereabouts, should not touch them and should call South Kent police on 01303 289180.
Alternatively they can call Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
