A BOY of four lost an ear when a car careered into a busy fast-food restaurant at Greenhithe, near Dartford (Caroline Chick writes).

The horror began when a Peugeot went out of control, ran off the road, and catapulted up a bank before smahing into Burger King on Crossways Boulevard.

It then ploughed through the restaurant's window throwing the boy across the room. Other diners were showered with shattered glass but most suffered only minor cuts.

Fire brigade commander David Boakes said: "There were quite a few causalities but nothing life-threatening."
