A child has been rescued from the bottom of a swimming pool in Northfleet by another swimmer.

The adult rescuer spotted the child - aged five or six - lying on the bottom of the pool in Cygnets Leisure Centre in Old Perry Street around 6.30pm last Wednesday, September 28.

He brought the child to the surface and the three lifeguards on duty immediately ordered around 60 swimmers to the changing rooms while they gave CPR.

The boy was later taken away by paramedics.
