A 24-year-old man accused of murdering his grandmother on Christmas Day has appeared in court.

Maxwell Twyman, of Conyngham Close, Ramsgate, spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

Twyman is alleged to have fatally stabbed 62-year-old Valerie Twyman at her home, also in Conyngham Close, Ramsgate.

Twyman, who was wearing a white check shirt, black jumper and jeans, was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on March 14. It was not indicated how he will plead on that occasion.
