Christmas mail stolen from postman

A POSTMAN’S bike and mailbag have been stolen in Northdown Road, Cliftonville, near Margate, during a delivery round. Police say the postman was taking letters to a block of flats and had left his cycle outside.

When he returned it was gone, together with the sack, letters, parcels and Christmas cards. The theft, which happened on Saturday between 9,25am and 9.30am, is the third attack on the postal service in the last month. A postbike andd bag have been taken from Birchington while cards and letters were taken from a sack during a delivery round in Ramsgate.

A police spokesman said: “The postal service is unable to say how much and what has been taken.”
