Community spirit shone through during the festive extravaganza organised by the Broadstairs Victorians.
Although icy temperatures, wind and rain put a chill in the air, the warmth of the response to the two-day event from residents, visitors and costumed Victorian characters has encouraged the organisers.
Wynne Clancy who co-ordinated the programme of attractions said: “Despite the weather visitors had a really great time, and thanks go to all those who took part. It was our first major event as the Broadstairs Victorians group and we are heartened by how it was received. We hope it generated interest in the town and encouraged people to have a browse around our excellent shops.”
The miniature train and the fun fair in Pierremont Park eventually fell victims to the weather, but the teddy bears picnic, festive bazaar with Santa’s grotto, food tastings, treasure hunt, panto, games and workshops, and shop window competition judged by kmfm presenter Johnny Lewis were all well-received.
