THOSE living on high ground in Minster escaped flooding, but had a nightmare journey to work.
Thelma Turner recalls: "I worked at Canning Town Glass and the factory was under several feet of water in parts. The warehouse was stacked from floor to ceiling with white and brown bottles awaiting delivery.
"But the racks were coated with mud, sand and silt. When the water receded, troughs had to be made ready to wash all the muck off every bottle."
