Striker Cody McDonald is plotting a second successive away victory after netting the all-important goal in the 1-0 win over Oxford at the weekend.
The on-loan front-man scored the only goal of the game at Oxford on Saturday to end the Gills’ long search for an away win after guiding home his fifth of the season.
He’s now looking ahead to Tuesday's visit to Barnet and a season with a lot more joy.
"It was a great buzz for the team to get that long-awaited away win," said the 24-year-old.
"We thoroughly deserved it and in the first half we could have quite easily been two or three goals up. We were brilliant.
"We were under the cosh a fair bit in the second but that’s going to happen away. Home teams are going to push bodies forward but we defended brilliantly as a team and that’s the spirit we need. I think that’s going to be the sign of things to come now.
"We will probably go into Tuesday’s game even more confident than we were on Saturday now and I’m sure we will go and put on another good performance. There is no reason why we can’t win.
"There is a group of players here who believe in themselves and I’m sure the fans will get right behind us.
"I know that this club can go places and we will start going up that table now."
