Theatre group Regency Productions is holding an open evening at its rehearsal studio at Westwood on Thursday September 11.
Running between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, the event will feature members of the cast of its forthcoming production of Sweeney Todd to be staged at Margate’s Theatre Royal.
The open evening offers a chance to catch the group’s street dancers who are taking part in talent contest finals at Margate Winter Gardens on Sunday, September 7.
During the three years since Sophia Tarjomani formed Regency Productions, more than 500 cast members have taken part in the group’s array of sell-out shows.
Sophia said: “Putting on shows is the main element of the company. Some of our students had never been on stage until they started coming to rehearsals and being taught with the rest of the group which had more experience. They have excelled in the performing arts world.
“It’s now time to open up the gates for a new performing arts school, where pupils can now get involved with drama, urban street dance, free style dance, musical theatre and singing and musical dance.
Regency School will also be able to offer classes for disabled people as well as drum lessons for local musicians. It also aims to become a meeting point for people wanting to form bands by offering free jamming sessions."
Regency Productions classes start from £3 per hour lesson and ages start from six years to adult. The studio is set behind the B&Q store at Westwood. If you can't make the open evening, call Sophia for more informations on 07876 343772 or email regencyproductions@yahoo.co.uk
