Welling had to settle for a FA Cup second qualifying round replay after a late penalty halted their progress on Saturday.
The Wings were in complete control at Ryman League Premier Division Concord but Harry Elmes’ penalty 13 minutes from time ensured the teams will meet again on Wednesday at Park View Road.
Jack Obersteller had already fired over from 20 yards by the time Ross Lafayette headed in Jamie Day’s near-post corner to give Welling a 15th-minute lead.
The tie should have been all but over five minutes before half-time but Scott Kinch somehow headed Obersteller’s corner wide when he stole in unmarked inside the six-yard box.
Lafayette nearly claimed his second on the stroke of half-time but, following Jake Gallagher’s break from midfield, the Wings forward saw his curling shot tipped over by keeper Michael Jordan.
Lafayette was again denied by Jordan at the near post early in the second half following Obersteller’s run into the box, while Joe Healy’s 25-yard shot was turned over by the keeper.
Concord were handed a way back into the tie when Ben Martin (pictured) – who gave away a spot-kick at Bromley in the FA Cup last season – tripped Elmes in the box and the striker sent keeper Jamie Turner the wrong way from the spot.
Welling nearly claimed a winner in stoppage time but Day’s free-kick was turned away by the impressive Jordan.
