Cool jazz sails into Harbour Jazz Club

Instrumentalist Phil Robson is the guest player at the Harbour Jazz Club at the Kent International Hotel, Ramsgate, on Tuesday, July 29, from 8.30pm.

Phil co-leads the band Partisans with Julian Siegel and has toured many times with them, most recently in Vienna and Hungary as well as to Brecon, Appleby and Manchester festivals. In 1997, Phil won the prestigious BT best soloist of the year award. In February 1998 he also won the Perrier young jazz award for the best instrumentalist of the year. He is a regular member of the Christine Tobin band.

He will be joined by Paul Booth, a regular player at Ronnie Scott’s. He is the first non-American to win the Stan Getz/Clifford Brown award and winner of the best modern jazz player of the year judged by Ronnie Scott and Kenny Ball. Taking a short break from his tour of America with Steve Winwood and Tom Petty, Paul is a founder of Harbour Jazz Club.

They will be accompanied by bassist Alex Keen and drummer Jimmy Tagford.
