TROY CORSER extended his lead in the World Superbike Championship with a win and a second-place finish in the two races at the famous Brands Hatch circuit at the weekend.

The Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider swapped the lead several times with rival Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha) in the first race before emerging to take the chequered flag, but the roles were reversed in the second race.

His two thrilling 25-lap duels with Haga kept more than 100,000 spectators enthralled at Brands Hatch and increased Corser’s overall lead to 110 points over fellow Australian Chris Vermeulen.

Corser said: "In the first race there was no way I was going to settle for second and that’s why I charged so hard. It’s what I wanted to do in the second race and I nearly managed it.

"It’s my aim to win as many races as possible this year and to finish on the podium in all the ones I don’t."
