PEOPLE dumping rubbish at a council waste site waste are being fined for leaving it there after hours.

Bromley council are warning anyone leaving rubbish at the site in Cotmandene Crescent, St Paul’s Cray, after hours could be prosecuted.

So far 26 people have been caught out at the site which is open from 11am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 8am to midday on Sundays.

Six people have been fined £80 while the remaining tippers picked up warnings.

One incident is still under investigation.

The car park is an authorised garden waste collection site, but the council has used CCTV to catch people after hours.

Peter Turvey, Enforcement and Technical Support Manager, said: “We are warning people not to leave their waste at any of the collection sites if it’s after the closing time or on the wrong day as they could risk prosecution.

“We are trying to avoid any confusion and prevent residents making genuine mistakes.”
