CLLR PAUL FOSTER: released on police bail

A LEADING Tory councillor has been arrested by police officers investigating alleged sexual offences, it has been revealed.

Cllr Paul Foster, who represents Rainham Central on Medway Council, runs a care home for young adults with learning disabilities in Lonsdale Drive, Rainham.

He has been released on bail while police continue their investigations.

Colleagues say the Medway Conservative Party chairman had recently returned from a holiday when he was arrested, on October 19.

A spokesman for Kent police said: “I can confirm police arrested a 48-year-old man at an address in Rainham, in connection with an investigation into alleged sexual offences.”

Cllr Rodney Chambers, leader of Medway Council, said: “This is a police investigation and, therefore, I’m unable to comment further.”

Attempts by the Medway Messenger to contact Cllr Foster on Wednesday and Thursday this week were unsuccessful.
