Couple in court after £1m seized

A KENT couple and a man from Essex are due to appear in court today charged with money laundering offences after Customs seized about £1 million cash.

Consultant and broker Gerald Reardon, 52, his wife Sharon Reardon, who is also 52 and a company director, both of Church Lane, Molash, and businessman Matthew Sharman, from Langdon Hills, Basildon, are due to appear at Dover Magistrates' Court this morning.

Customs investigators seized cash at an address in Southwark, South East London, on Friday, and then searched premises in Kent and Essex.

A Customs spokesman said five people had been arrested on Friday. One was released late on Friday night and another was bailed without charge until February.
