Police are investigating after a one-month-old baby boy was taken to hospital reportedly with multiple injuries, including internal wounds.
A man and a woman have been arrested and released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The baby was in a critical condition but today (Saturday) he was said to be "showing signs of improvement" in hospital.
Police have been carrying out a forensic examination of a house in Gravesend. A neighbour said she heard "a loud commotion" at the house on Thursday morning and said police arrived there soon afterwards.
A Kent Police spokesman said today: "We can confirm a baby boy was admitted to Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford, at 7am on Thursday in a critical condition.
"The baby was transferred to a London hospital for further treatment where his condition today is showing signs of improvement.
"A man aged 35 and a woman aged 33, both from Gravesend, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
"They have both been released on police bail until December 8 while the inquiry continues."
It was reported the baby suffered a cardiac arrest brought on by his horrific injuries.
It was said ribs were fractured, he had a broken arm, a broken collar bone, punctured lungs and severe bruising. There were reportedly also other internal wounds.
