HE MAY only be living on a diet of milk at the moment, but this bumper bundle of joy has already earned himself the nickname Big Mac.
MacKenzie Haynes weighed in at a whopping 11lbs when he arrived at Maidstone Hospital on July 18.
And thanks to the Christian name parents Trina Clark and Julian Haynes had already chosen for him, Larkfield’s Big Mac was born.
Miss Clark, of Marlowe Road, Larkfield, endured a 25-hour labour to give birth to MacKenzie, her first child, and despite a scan at 37 weeks showing he was just over 8lbs, his size at 41 weeks was unexpected.
She said: “I ate quite healthily during my pregnancy so I couldn’t understand why I’d put on three stone.
“But when MacKenzie was born he was such a big baby, it all made sense. He was very long and skinny though, so he didn’t look that fat.”
There is no known history of large babies in either family and Miss Clark said there was no medical reason for her to give birth to a large child.
She has already been told on medical advice that when she has a second baby, it is likely to be induced early.
She added: “We’d already chosen the name MacKenzie for him long before he was born, but when he eventually came out so big, it wasn’t very long before people started calling him Big Mac.”
MacKenzie is one of just seven babies born at Maidstone Hospital so far this year who have tipped the scales at 11lbs or more.
