A woman has claimed her former boyfriend turned up at her home late at night and confessed to committing a murder.
Christine Sattar said David Alberto’s trousers and trainers were spattered with blood and he had a knife.
Alberto, she said, gave her his jacket and asked her to wash it and get rid of it.
Mrs Sattar, 50, admitted she at first lied to the police, telling them Alberto had not been to her Birchington home on the night John Joyce was killed. She later admitted perverting the course of justice and is awaiting sentence.
Maidstone Crown Court heard that Alberto, 32, knifed Mr Joyce, 64, because he blamed him for the break-up of his relationship with Joanna Kurn, who was pregnant with Alberto's child.
The prosecution say Alberto went to Mr Joyce’s home in Conyngham Close, Ramsgate, on the night of July 7 last year and stabbed him 11 times.
Mrs Sattar said she had gone to bed on July 7 when Alberto arrived.
She said: "He said words to the effect he has killed or murdered somebody. I have a clear vision of blood on his combat trousers."
Alberto’s lawyer Peter Gower QC said: "You are a liar, aren’t you Mrs Sattar?" She replied: "No I am not."
She continued: "Of course, I was upset. He had blood on him. I was in a terrible state."
She said in a police statement she saw the knife handle sticking out of Alberto’s trousers and also saw the blade.
Mrs Sattar said she did as Alberto asked when he told her to wash his jacket and get rid of it. She asked a friend to dispose of it.
Alberto, of Albert Street, Newington, denies murder. The trial continues.
