Liam Hudson: banned from driving and given an ASBO

An Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) has been slapped on a Medway man who has been banned from driving for a year.

Liam Hudson, 20, of Portland Road, Gillingham, was given the as ASBO after being convicted of a number of motoring offences, including, driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and was also fined £200 by Medway magistrates.

Police then applied to enforce the ASBO, which was also granted by magistrates.

The order means Hudson must not use a motorcycle in a manner which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person.

He is also banned from using threatening or abusive language or behaviour towards any person in Queen Elizabeth Fields, Gillingham, and is not allowed on the fields.

Peter Jackson, from Medway police’s joint family management programme, said: “We are committed to working with partner agencies and the community to make Medway a safer place to live, where people can enjoy their own homes and environment in peace.

"This action is another significant step towards achieving this.

“We will not hesitate to take enforcement action against the minority of people whose unacceptable behaviour adversely affects the quality of life for people who live and work in the Medway towns.”

Chief Insp Dave Coleman added: “Anti-social behaviour orders are an effective way in dealing with people who cause distress to the majority of law abiding residents in Medway.

"By working with our communities we are able to identify offenders and then take suitable action.

“I am confident this ASBO enforces our message we will use all the powers available to us to curb antisocial and unruly behaviour.

“We will continue to work in close partnership with Medway Council and the local people to build stronger, safer communities.”

Hudson has also been told if he breaks any part of his order he will be committing an offence and may be fined or sent to prison for up to five years.

If you see Hudson breaching the conditions of this order, please call 01634 891055 and report it to officers.
