Three accidents have closed the Thanet Way coast-bound this morning.

They all happened near the Chestfield tunnel but it is not known if they are connected.

They happened in heavy rain and hail.

The Thanet Way has been closed from the junction with the A2990 at Whitstable to the A291 Canterbury Road near Herne Bay with traffic diverted along the old Thanet Way.

But road works along that stretch are already leading to big tailbacks.
