'Crack cocaine' seized in police swoops

KENT Police have seized a large quantity of what is thought to be crack cocaine and made several arrests following a series of drug warrants at addresses in South Kent.

A 21-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy, were arrested following a warrant at an address in Ackerley Court, Ashford.

A 53-year-old man was arrested following a warrant in Prince of Wales Terrace, Deal, where a quantity of a substance thought to be cocaine and large amount of cash were seized.

All those arrested on Wednesday are currently being questioned.

Officers are making further enquiries about a quantity of cocaine found at an address in Hackfield, Ashford, and a small quantity of cannabis found in Mill Lane, Eastry.

A warrant was carried out in Perrot Way, Hawkinge, but nothing was found in a search and no one was arrested.

The warrants were carried out in support of National Tackling Drugs Day, a Home Office initiative to highlight the work being done to reduce drug-related crime and to protect communities from drug related anti-social behaviour.

It is also a part of neighbourhood policing fortnight and Kent Police’s commitment to work with the community to tackle issues that are of concern to them.

Residents who are concerned about drug use and abuse in their neighbourhood are being encouraged to report their concerns to their neighbourhood policing team. Details of whom can be found at www.kent.police.uk under Your Neighbourhood.
