Craig Beak has scaled the highest mountains in England and Wales in memory of his father, who died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The idea was to celebrate what would have been David Beak's 60th birthday and to raise awareness of the CO-Awareness organisation that supports the victims of Carbon Monoxide and Toxic Combustion, their families and friends.

Craig from Ramsgate (pictured right in the photo), who was accompanied by his friend Dee Wilkinson on the climb, said: "Dad died when he was just 52 and we still miss him greatly. He would have celebrated an important milestone this year, so I decided to take on a challenge to celebrate it for him and to highlight CO-Awareness."

Next step for Craig was to get fit and he spent six months training with the support of friends, family and Peter Eyre at Elite Fitness Studio in Broadstairs.

Craig and Dee completed the 1010 mile round trip in just two days a few weeks ago, going up and down Scafell Pike in four hours and forty minutes, and Snowdon in four hours.

He said: "Dee was a great motivator for me and we both enjoyed the climb. It was really hectic, travelling and climbing the two highest peaks in England and Wales, but it was worthwhile."
