A WOMAN car passenger from Sheppey has died in hospital after a road accident at Saffron Way in Sittingbourne. The 77-year-old woman from Minster, who was in a blue Nissan Sunny driven by her husband when it was in collision with a Volvo 740 travelling in the opposite direction on Saturday at about 4.25pm.

The woman, a front seat passenger who is due to be formally identified today, was taken to Medway Hospital and died there the next day.

Her husband and the other car driver were not seriously hurt. The accident happened near Asda's superstore while the Nissan was travelling from Sittingbourne towards Kemsley. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Jim Haskell on 01795 584085.
