Crash No. 3 closes roundabouts

A LORRY carrying chemicals overturned at the roundabout at the top of Tothill Street, Minster, Thanet, early today, causing traffic gridlock. It is the third similar accident in a month.

A number of chemical drums fell from the white 38-ton articulated lorry.

The driver is thought not to have been seriously injured.

Several roads were closed, including the Lord of the Manor roundabout, Monkton roundabout, Acol roundabout and Tothill Street at the junction with Foxborough Lane.

A police spokeswoman said: “The recent number of similar accidents would appear to be sheer coincidence. This is a very well-used road and one of the main access routes to Port Ramsgate. However, we would urge drivers to drive as safely as possible and to be aware of driving conditions in all weathers - for example, dazzling bright sunshine can be a visibility ha\ard as much as fog.”
