Curbs writes to FA over comments to ref

ALAN CURBISHLEY has written to the Football Association explaining his outspoken criticism of Kent referee Steve Bennett after the 1-0 Boxing Day home defeat by Arsenal.

The Charlton manager was incensed that a tackle by Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas on defender Gonzalo Sorondo went unpunished while midfielder Danny Murphy was ordered off for dissent. Sorondo has not played since owing to the injury.

"I was asked by the Football Association to explain my quotes and I've been busy on my typewriter writing my reply, which has been sent," said Curbishley. "I haven't heard back from the FA."
