Manager Andy Hessenthaler expects Gillingham midfielder Curtis Weston to be available for selection this weekend - despite an injury scare in the reserves on Wednesday afternoon.
Weston, who has struggled for fitness this season, was making his comeback from injury but went down clutching his ankle after a crunching challenge from Brentford's David Hunt.
The referee booked Hunt for the tackle but Weston received lengthy treatment before coming back on to the pitch and seeing out the remainder of the second half.
"Curtis got a whack and I thought that was the end of him in the game," confessed Hessenthaler.
"But he went back on and was icing his ankle after the game - he should be okay, it was just a kick."
Hessenthaler now has to decide whether to include Weston, Dennis Oli and Stanley Aborah against Shrewsbury in League 2 this weekend.
All three made their return from injury in the 3-0 reserve win over Brentford after coming on as substitutes.
"Our medical staff advised us on (not starting them)," said Hessenthaler. "We went with what they said as we didn't want to risk losing them again.
"We've got to be careful with them and it was a case of easing them back in.
"There's another reserve game next week at Leyton Orient so depending on what they do this weekend they will get longer again next tuesday and it will be refreshing to see them come through that.
"It all depends on their recovery in the next two days whether they are involved in some capacity at the weekend. If they feel okay, it is a nice option for us to have."
