Cyclist may hold clues to sex attack

A CYCLIST could hold the key to the identity of a sex attacker. A girl of 13 was the victim of a serious sexual assault in Dane Park, Margate, on Tuesday, September 25.

The assault happened in the children’s play area of the park between 7pm and 8pm. During the incident a man rode past the play area on a bike. The girl screamed out to him, but he didn’t stop.

Police hope he may remember seeing something and come forward. The man rode past the back of the play area towards Park Crescent Road.

A police spokeswoman said: ”The girl did not manage to get a description of the man, but we hope it may jog someone’s memory. The area was not lit at the time, so he may not have realised what was going on.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Margate police. The officer dealing with the case is DC Chris Pepper. His number is 01843 222004.
