Two men allegedly armed with knives led a police helicopter on a high speed chase.
The pair’s stolen car was reportedly driven dangerously from London, through Thamesmead and Plumstead, into Kent with fake number plates.
Officers spotted the car at around 10.30pm while on Thames Road, Dartford. They requested the vehicle to stop however it failed to do so and the car was pursued into Charlton.
Multiple police forces eventually brought the white saloon to a stop before the “dangerous individuals" were arrested, police said.
A subsequent search unearthed “a large quantity of cannabis, knives, other false plates and equipment to steal,” according to Kent Roads Policing’s Twitter account.
The post, tweeted today, said: “Road policing units one and two got behind this vehicle on the Kent/Metropolitan border, linked to theft of motor vehicles.
“(The) vehicle immediately made off, driving dangerously through Thamesmead and Plumstead.
“It was pursued with the assistance of the National Police Air Service and Roads and Transport MPS, resulting in two arrests.”
The account released pictures of a smashed up white saloon with a damaged left front wheel, two individuals can be seen behind one officer.
They added the car had been fitted with “false plates” and was “confirmed stolen.”
“A great example of joint working resulting in two dangerous individuals being arrested,” they added.
