Danny Jackman is revelling in his return to League 1 with Gillingham and is aiming to help cause an upset on Saturday.
The Gills visit Southampton and although the south coast side may have a regular home crowd close to 20,000 and a wage bill that’s comparable to the top clubs in League 1, Jackman has no fears.
The 26-year-old (pictured) joined the Gills just over a month ago from League 2 side Northampton.
He said: "It’s going to be a great challenge against Southampton and we want to be playing these teams week in, week out. It’s great to be pitting our wits against teams like these.
"It will be a good test and it will show how far we have come. We need to adapt to their style and the surroundings and make sure we are not overawed."
He added: "They lost their last game and the pressure will be on them. They’ve not had the best of starts and we need to take the game to them."
