Danny Jackman could be back fighting for a place in the Gillingham squad to face Walsall on Saturday after a week of intensive fitness work.
Jackman made a summer move from Northampton but just six games into his second spell at the Gills he dislocated a shoulder in the game at Southampton.
After four months on the sidelines, the 27-year-old is nearing his return.
“He is very close,” said boss Mark Stimson. “He did three sessions on Tuesday. One on his own, one with Mark Patterson and then one with Danny Ellis and he worked really hard this week.
“He’ll be chomping at the bit to try and get into the 18 man squad.”
