A year after the brutal murder of a father-of-four, his family are still hoping someone will be brought to justice.
At 3am on Friday, October 17, last year, Danny King (pictured) was shot at his home in Medina Road, Ditton. His wife and grandchildren were asleep in the next room.
His killers used a .38 revolver hand gun and did not use a silencer. Police, who described the murder as "brutal and horrific", are renewing their appeal for information.
DCI Jon Bumpus said: "His family still need answers as to why he was taken from them in such a horrific way."
Mr King and his wife Sylvia were married in 1975 in Sidcup and moved to Ditton several years ago.
Speaking exclusively to the Kent Messenger, on the eve of the one year anniversary of his death, Mrs King said: "He is missed very much. We cope with the support of each other, but the one year anniversary is going to be hard to deal with. We will probably do something quiet, as a family together.
Mrs King added: “In an ideal world, we hoped someone would be arrested and charged but we know it is a complex investigation and we expect it to take a while.”
Since Mr King died, the couple’s large brood of grandchildren became 12, when Shepherd Danny King, now seven months, was born in March.
