The Dartford bridge has reopened after high winds of up to 70mph forced its closure earlier today.

The bridge reopened at about 3.30pm today and the tunnels went back to normal at about 4.25pm.

The QEII bridge on the M25 was closed at about 6.30am and the east tunnel at about 5am. Southbound traffic was being diverted through the east tunnel while northbound traffic was diverted through the west tunnel.

There were also height restrictions in the west tunnel of 15 ft 9ins (4.8 metres).

Queues built up on both sides of the river with congestion stretching back to junction three (Swanley Interchange) on the Kent side and between junction 30 and junction 29 on the Essex side.
