Dartford sprint star Adam Gemili didn't disappoint in his latest appearance on the track, smashing his personal best for 200m to become the fastest junior in Europe this year.
The 18-year-old - who hit the headlines at the start of June with a stunning 100m time of 10.08 seconds in a competition in Germany - smashed his pb by 0.09 seconds to win his 200m heat at the World Junior Championship trials in Bedford in a time of 20.61 on Sunday, despite running into a stiff headwind and noticeably easing up in the final straight.
It was the third fastest time ever by an under-20 British athlete, with only Christian Malcolm and Ade Mafe running faster.
Gemili sat out the final - which was won in a time of 20.90s - after suffering tightness in his hamstring which he rested as a precaution.
Gemili (pictured) had been boosted by a UK Athletics decision to lighten his workload by exempting him from the Junior 100m trials on Saturday, with an eye on this week's Olympic trials.
The heats begin on Friday with the semi-finals and final taking place on Saturday,
The World Junior Championship takes place in Barcelona between July 10 and 15, with the Olympic Games getting under way on July 27.
His 100m time - the second fastest by any European this year and second fastest ever by an under-20 Brit - was a tenth of a second faster than any other British sprinter this season.
