Ex-Formula One driver David Coulthard stunned motorsport fans
with an appearance at Brands Hatch.

The pundit for the BBC's F1 coverage was getting to know the
track ahead of his race in the DTM German Touring Car Championships
on Sunday, September 5.

BBC F1 anchorman Jake Humphries was also at the circuit to do
some filming with the Scotsman ahead of the BBC's Belgium Grand
Prix coverage.

After little more than a year away from competitive racing, the
lure of competition was too much for Coulthard, who is racing for
Mucke Motorsport in a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

He has failed to pick up a point so far in his debut DTM season
but said he is treating it as a learning curve in the sport.

Coulthard, who is Britain's highest all-time points scorer in
F1, tooks some journalists for a spin around the famous circuit on
Monday, August 23, which last held a Grand Prix in 1986.

It was his first time around the West Kingsdown track since
1991, when he raced in Formula Three.

He said: "The nature of the corners mean there is lots of late
breaking.

"On other tracks if you try to extract lap time in the breaking
area and you get it wrong it can be very costly but at Brands you
can do that.

"From the point of view of the spectators it is a natural
amphitheatre and it has a great history, with the likes of Jackie
Stewart competing here."

The DTM German Touring Car Championship is at Brands Hatch from
Friday, September 3 until Sunday, September 5. Sunday raceday
tickets £30, under 12s free. Call 0870 950 9000 or visit http://www.brandshatch.co.uk/.
