THE run-down landmark Lido leisure complex – one of Thanet’s seaside eyesores – is set to have a new lease of life.
Paigle Properties, the developers behind the luxury apartments project at the Royal Sea Bathing Hospital at Westbrook, have bought the tatty clifftop centre in Cliftonville that was once a top attraction for residents and holidaymakers.
Paigle Properties general manager David Seaton confirmed the news that will gladden residents, pressure groups and councillors who have desperately been calling for a full scale clean up and major improvements to the site that is largely empty, apart from the snooker hall, bars and the rock music venue.
Mr Seaton said: "We have bought the Lido to develop it although the project is at such an early stage that we have not decided what form it will take."
