Welling manager Jamie Day praised the contribution of new signings Sam Cutler and Jack Obersteller following last weekend's 1-1 draw at Basingstoke.
Both players came off the bench in the second half to make their debuts for the Wings.
Cutler added more bite to the Wings midfield and Obersteller fitted in at left-back, allowing Michael Deane to play further forward.
Day, pictured, said: "I thought Jack did well at left-back and I was very pleased with Sam, who showed some nice touches and tackled well.
"Jack can play left-wing as well so we've got good options down the left-hand side which is pleasing.
"The first half-hour we didn't play well and didn't pick up many second balls, our work-rate wasn't as good as it has been.
"In the second half we were on top without causing too many problems so a draw was probably the fair result."
Day was named as a substitute but was never going to be involved after suffering from flu at the end of last week.
The Wings boss added: "I was struggling on Wednesday and Thursday but I improved as the week went on."
Day is likely to name himself as a substitute again on Tuesday night when Welling host Chelmsford in Blue Square South.
He said: "Chelmsford will be a difficult game, I played against them in the FA Cup for Dartford earlier this season as well.
"It will be a tough game but we've got home advantage so hopefully we can make that count."
Andy Sambrook returns from suspension but defender Steve King is not expected to return to training after a foot injury until Thursday and Dean Cracknell (broken ankle) is ruled out until January or February.
