Declan to head biggest choir

SINGING sensation Declan Galbraith will be breaking instead of making records later this year when he joins the biggest choir in the world. The ten year old from Hoo, near Rochester, will lead the 37,000-strong choir with the song Tell Me Why, which he has recorded for his first album, due out later this year.

He will sing with 4,000 children in London, with simultaneous concerts being held around the Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The sing-in doesn't take place until December but a few days ago, Declan recorded the song with the Young Voices choir, a choir which performs five times a year to raise money for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

That recording will now be sent all round the country for the 37,000 singers to learn the words to Tell Me Why. The attempt to be placed in the Guinness Book of Records will also support the Sargent Cancer Care for Children charity. Since winning the Search for A Star competition, organised by Medway Today and Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre last August Declan has secured a £500,000 contract with music giant EMI.

He has appeared on breakfast television show GMTV several times.

The youngster, who lives in St John's Road, Hoo, with his mum Sioban, dad Alec and younger sister Bernadette, will soon be known to people across the country as they do their shopping. He is about to start a tour of shopping centres, to give people a taste of what they can expect on his album.
